THE MLB LEGENDS PRESENTS
Originally drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers, Dave won a World Series Championship as a rookie and would later grow to become one of the best Professional Pitchers in Major League Baseball.
Winning the World Series MVP Award and 2 more World Series Championships, Dave Stewart went on one of the most incredible four-year runs for a Pitcher in franchise history.
Nicknamed "Smoke", Oakland native and St. Elizabeth High graduate Dave's MLB playing career spanned from 1978 through 1995.
The two-time League Championship Series Most Valuable Player Award winner, Dave was most revered for his four straight 20-win seasons in Oakland and for staring down batters when pitching to them. He pitched for the Dodgers, Texas Rangers, Philadelphia Phillies, Oakland Athletics, and Toronto Blue Jays.
After Dave's playing career, he was a Professional Pitching Coach, Assistant General Manager, and General Manager for a Major League team and owned a sports agency. As a sports agency owner, Dave represented Oakland A’s third baseman Eric Chavez and outfielder Matt Kemp, among others.
Stewart joined NBC Sports California as a studio analyst for A’s Pregame Live and A’s Postgame Live, providing insight and commentary on the team he rooted for while growing up in Oakland.
Dave was inducted into the Oakland A’s Hall of Fame and is the sixth former Athletic to have his number retired.
